This 1998 Land Rover Discovery resides in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, after its current owner acquired it from a friend and Land Rover enthusiast in San Diego earlier this year. In fact, it’s understood that the car never left sunny, dry southern California its entire life, and the owner is looking to sell it after a summer of fun and so as to not subject the car to a Michigan winter, particularly in light of its remarkably rust-free condition.
The car has been well cared over and presents well in Oxford Blue over beige with a dark blue headliner, with the notable modifications of a slight lift, larger tires, aftermarket radio with remote, fog lamps with brighter headlights, a larger radiator, and auxiliary temperature gauge. In his brief ownership, the current owner installed brand new Michigan tires that were more suitable for highway driving in addition to ordering an interior woodgrain dash kit and front seat leather upholstery kit (pictured), neither of which have been installed yet but are included in the sale of the car. The A/C blows cold, the car is reported to start on a dime, and never overheated once during a particularly hot Michigan summer.
Known cosmetic deficiencies are commensurate with the car’s mileage of approximately 164,000 and include the tears to the front seat, plastic trim cracks, some paint fade on the exterior and the like. The rear two windows and electric seats are slightly temperamental.
All told, the car has proven to be great fun for the owner and his family as it was used for weekend fun in their collection and they’re now hoping it finds a new home with a true enthusiast who will enjoy.
